People hear of online predators all the time. People hear about things they can do to protect their children. Have you done them? We have two children that use the internet every day. Below are a couple of rules we use that can help you in keeping kids safe on the internet.
- Make sure an adult approves adding an email address. Don’t let your children send emails to folks they don’t know, or signed up to emails online. This can send junk mail to your children’s email box. Junk mail can carry information you do not desire your children reading, as well as links to websites.
- Keep the computer in a visible place in your house. In case your kids are surfing in private, you don’t know what they are browsing. It’s so easy to find undesirable stuff on the internet. Make sure you can view what your kids are visiting.
- Go in once your child went to bed and check the internet history to find out what websites they have gone to. Whenever you feel like they have been mailing inappropriate emails, you can check their email also. You can find out precisely what they have sent and what they have taken off.
- Provide a list of favorites for the websites they are allowed to visit. If they have heard about a new website, check it out primarily to make sure it is child friendly. Do not allow you kids search through Google or another search engine. Ensuring that they stick to the approved list raises the odds that their internet viewing would be safe.
Following these few suggestions will make ensure that your children are safe when on the web. Our children have a different world from the one we were raised in. Make sure they are safe.
